Clinical pharmacy is in the final stage of drug development, which is important for drug safety and efficacy. Clinical pharmacy also meets the requirement of the development of present precision medicine and translational medicine. It will provide scientific evaluation for both new and post marketing medications. They have been funded by one 863 key project, 6 grants from Natural Science Foundation of China, one project from Doctoral Foundation of Ministry of Education. There are more than 100 (40 SCI) publications published, including Nature Biotechnology, Biomaterial, Molecular Pharmaceutics, etc. There are three major research areas:
1. Pharmacogenomics and personalized medicine
Pharmacogenomics is our main research focus and basis of personalized medicine. Prof. Cai started related studies in the early 1990s and has achieved many development in this area. He was awarded many honors, including National Award of 100 Excellent Ph.D. Thesis and Government Special Stipend Award, Ministry of State. Prof. Xiang got his Ph.D. University of Finland and his research area is the study of transporters variation and its relation to rational use of drug.
2. Drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics
Drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics are important method and basis for creative innovation drug and rational use of medication. There are several major research area, including preclinical pharmacokinetics, drug interaction and physically based pharmacokinetics, therapeutic drug monitoring, etc.. Prof. Cai is now the Chair of Drug Metabolism Committee of Shanghai Pharmacology Association.
3. Drug administration
These years, Drug Administration T&R group cooperates with States and Local FDAs, National Health Commission of People’s Republic of China, healthcare industry associate and healthcare companies, playing the role of host or attendees in several healthcare-related research projects, including “Management of Drug Retail Industry in Shanghai” , ” Research of Revise National Drug Administration Law” , ”Health China 2020” etc. We published about 60 articles on core journals in China these five years.
