Xinsheng Lei completed his B.S. in 1990 and M.S. in 1993 (major in organic chemistry) from the department of chemistry, Nankai University (Tianjin, China). After he got short industrial experience, he pursued his Ph.D. degree (major in medicinal chemistry) from 1996 to 1999 in Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College. Then he held a postdoctoral fellow in Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (China), and in IRCOF, INSA de ROUEN (France) for two years, respectively. Thereafter, he joined in Shanghai Hengrui Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd in 2004. Since 2007, he entered school of pharmacy in Fudan University (Shanghai, China) as an associate professor in medicinal chemistry. His research interest spans the area of organic chemistry including synthesis of biologically active natural products, new synthetic methods for the “drug-prejudiced” scaffolds or small organic molecules to discover drug candadates.
