The Department of Radiopharmaceutical Science was established in the early 1960s and was the original Isotope Center Laboratory of Shanghai Medical University. In the early 1980s, Shanghai Medical University established the Institute of Nuclear Medicine, and the Department of Radiopharmaceutical Science is also serving as the Nuclear Medicine Research Laboratory of the Institute of Nuclear Medicine. Professor Zhu Tong is the founder of this department. Professor Wang Dengming was appointed as the first director of this department. The second director was Prof. Zhu Tong. Later, Professor Gong Jialing, Professor Zhu Jianhua, and Professor Li Cong served successively as the director. Current research directions of this department include radionuclide labeling technology, in vivo pharmacokinetic evaluation, molecular imaging and imaging probes.
