Department of Pharmacology was established in 1927 by Prof. ZHANG Changshao, the pioneer of pharmacology in China. Department of Biochemistry was established by Prof. MEI Meizhen in 1960. After several adjustments, the Department of Pharmacology and the Department of Biochemistry finally merged into the Department of Pharmacology and Biochemistry of Fudan University in 2010. Our department was the first batch of graduate education subjects for master’s/Ph.D. degrees in China and has trained the first generation of graduate students of pharmacology. The subject became a key discipline in Shanghai in 2005.

In the latest decade, faculties from Department of Pharmacology and Biochemistry have obtained 2 projects from National Science and Technology Department (973 Project), 2 key projects from National Natural Science Foundation of China, nearly 20 general projects from National Natural Science Foundation of China, 3 projects from Shanghai Science and Technology Commission. Over 70 SCI papers have been published ( IF>2) and several domestic and foreign invention patents have been authorized.
