Recently, winners of the ‘2017 Fudan University Teaching and Learning Awards’were announced. The Innovations in Talent Management Model in Clinical Pharmacy finished by School of Pharmacy was awarded the first prize (participants included HOU Aijun, CAI Weimin, MA Guo, LV Qianzhou, ZHONG Mingkang, XIANG Xiaoqiang, LI Zhiping, ZHAI Qing, JIAO Zheng, and ZHU Yizhun), which also won the second prize for ‘2017 Shanghai Teaching and Learning Awards’. For the first time in past few years, this award has been presented to the field of clinical pharmacy.
School of Pharmacy, Fudan University has been pursuing evolutionary and revolutionary innovations in clinical pharmacy education since 2009 by implementing‘4+2’ Master’s degree program and ‘4+4’ Ph.D. degree program. The group made adjustments and improvements to the curriculum and administrative scheme for the purpose of talent management, along with strengthening cooperation with well-known pharmacy schools overseas and easing the severe shortage of clinical pharmacy faculty in China by sending students to the United States for Pharm.D. programs. The group actively focused on education research, organizing 6 provincial and ministerial level education reform projects in clinical pharmacy, publishing 29 papers in clinical pharmacy education and practice, and serving as the editor or vice editor of, or cocompiling 27 textbooks including Clinical Pharmacy Theory and Practice,Introduction to Clinical Pharmacy, and Pharmacotherapy. The efforts were recognized by domestic and foreign experts and won 10 different teaching awards.
This award celebrated the 10-year hard work and exploration by group members in clinical pharmacy through support of School of Pharmacy and affiliated hospitals. The novel talent management model conforms to the global tendency of pharmacy education, which would serve as a positive role model for clinical pharmacy education in China.
