2017年10月16日上午，中国科学院院士、复旦大学校长许宁生教授在邯郸校区亲切会见了2009年诺贝尔化学奖得主、美国耶鲁大学托马斯·施泰茨（Thomas A. Steitz）教授，欢迎他的到访并祝贺他即将担任复旦大学名誉教授。在交流中，双方强调了基础研究和公共平台对科技创新的支撑作用，许校长特别介绍了复旦大学在上海张江参加具有全球影响力科创中心建设的一系列最新举措。复旦大学药学院院长、国家新药筛选中心主任兼国家化合物样品库主任王明伟研究员、复旦大学生命科学学院林金钟教授和麻锦彪教授参加了会见。
Professor Ningsheng Xu meets 2009 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry Thomas Steitz
In the morning of October 16, 2017, Professor Ningsheng Xu (Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of Fudan University) met with Professor Thomas A. Steitz, 2009 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry and Sterling Professor of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at Yale University (USA), at Handan Campus. Professor Xu warmly welcomed Dr. Steitz and congratulated him to become an honorary professor at Fudan University. During the exchanges, both of them emphasized the key roles that basic research and public platform play in supporting scientific and technological innovation. Professor Xu specially briefed Dr. Steitz of a series of latest initiatives that Fudan is taking at Zhangjiang, Shanghai, in participation of the construction of a science and technology innovation center with global influence. Drs. Ming-Wei Wang (Dean and Director, the National Center for Drug Screening/Chinese National Compound Library), Jinzhong Lin and Jinbiao Ma from School of Life Sciences, Fudan University were present in the meeting.
